Welcome to Surviving Driving

Swansea and South Wales premier independent driving school

Surviving driving is Swansea's premier independent driving school, offering expert driver tuition to all, in and around the Swansea and Llanelli area. We do not just teach drivers how to pass the test, but aim to develop good driving habits and Roadcraft from the start, so that you will have many years of safe enjoyable driving.

Tuition is available to anyone, as long as you are over seventeen and hold a valid UK provisional license and live around the Swansea or Llanelli area, please call with your requirements.

When learning to drive it is important to follow a professionally structured syllabus, to ensure good driving practices are developed in a safe, comfortable environment. Our syllabus here at Surviving Driving is based extensively on the Driving Standards Agency instructions and guidelines, the Highway Code, and Roadcraft. A well structured driving programme will ensure that the learner will make the most progress possible whilst getting value for money.

A common question we hear is “How long will it take to pass my test?” The Driving Standard Agency i.e. the people who mark the test state that on average a learner takes 46 hours of professional tuition plus a further 22 hours of private practice*. Previous driving experience either with a qualified instructor or with family and friends will help to greatly reduce the amount of hours needed.

So we insist before jumping in at the deep end all learners take a reduced price assessment lesson first. Where our expert instructors will assess your individual needs and requirements. This will ensure that your lessons are pitched to your level, in other words, you will not be going over materiel that you have already covered or on the other hand, expected to handle driving situations that you are not prepared for yet.

Lessons can usually be structured around your lifestyle and work or college commitments. We find that the best progress is made by students who take a two-hour lesson once a week, but if you want more or less hours per week its usually possible.
